Fresh Perspectives and Don't Believe Them


At age 39, I was frustrated that I kept gaining weight.

Nothing I did seemed to translate into losing weight.

In this frustration, I complained to my sister about it.

Her response went something like this, "You're almost 40. We've all been there. It's just the way it is now."

I was irritated.

And I also believed her.

For the next year, I acted from the belief that my weight was going to be "this" amount because of my age.

How do you think I showed up?

Was I going to the gym?

Was I exercising? Weight lifting? Signing up for yoga classes?

In truth, I did some of those things, some of the time, but never believing they could help me shed pounds.

I did them in an attempt to be healthier regardless of my weight.

Which is great. Go me!!

But that all changed from a simple choice I made at the gym one evening.

I decided to do an exercise I used to do often--the rowing machine.

Nothing special happened then. But when I came home, I put up the pull-up bar and was able to do 2 pull-ups.

I couldn't believe it!

Doing a pull-up had been a goal of mine for 7 years and here it happened quite randomly.

Shocked, I decided maybe I can exercise like I used to...

And maybe I can lose weight too.

With this new belief, maybe I CAN lose weight...

And some new goals in exercise and eating, I have lost 10 pounds.

I feel much better.

Belief is power so choose your belief wisely and question any belief bringing you down.
